United States
Приєднався 11 гру 2012
Archbold Biological Station is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to long-term ecological research coupled with education and conservation. Our work addresses the needs of the Lake Wales Ridge and Northern Everglades, one of the world's most important regions for water, wildlife, and rare plants and animals, serving as a model program for other regions around the globe. We are stewards for future generations, promoting ecological health and sustainable land use.

If the "red root" is Lachnanthes caroliana that is odd in that it is toxic to humans.
I’m taking care of mine with a bull dozer.
I have a silver saw thats just three years old i purchased as a three gallon plant that have a good 8 inchs of trunk they grow fast when u feed them straight nitrogen fertilizer
I heard about this place in 1998.
I currently for the last 12 yrs., have a thriving gopher habitat on my property. I love them & hope to protect them as I can
This would be a great video if there weren't ads every ten seconds.
What a blessing and an honor you have given all of us. xoxo
The sands that survived the sea, going under the plow, and the bulldozer, taking their secrets away from a deranged humanity, that sees value in Nature only when it is vanquished.
Send this video to AOC and the rest of the swuad
We need much more wildlife corridors across the entire state!
It drives me crazy to hear scientists credit evolution when what is happening is adaptation! A species biology doesn’t change form to keep up with a changing environment! We’re taught that evolution takes MILLIONS of years but extreme environmental changes can happen quickly. According to scientists 99.9% of all plant and animal species has become extinct. Scientists know that life is winding down. Even the Bible talks about this fact. God did not create evolution, he created did however give us the instinct to “stay alive” if we’re being threatened. That’s just adaptation! The fairytale isn’t creation, it is and has always been EVOLUTION!
Excellent video! Though, not nearly enough of this burning is being done in the state of Florida.
Thank you for honoring a wonderful state resident - the Long Leaf Pine.
I live in Charlton county Georgia. I was waiting fir my Ma to git her hair sot and i saw a gopher tortoise walk across Love street in Folkston Georgia
Very good
This very informative. I live on the edge of the Okefenokee and we have many of these same plants. Thank you
We use inches and feet in America!!!
Was that a Panther on the Leisure Lakes webcam?
We do see turkeys on Lake Francis.
Excellent video! Thank you 🙏
How do you go about preserving the fungi for the herbarium?
Flipping love it!...I bet the night sky is filled with stars!...I need to make it down there one of these days!
Heart felt production. Thank you for sharing sir!
Very interesting. Me and my kids drove to Sugarloaf Mountain near Clermont. Being from Florida and never seeing any real elevation we thought it was so cool, even though it was only 250 or 300’ above sea level.
It’s three years later and I’m on the list. I’m 65 years old if you keep stats. Good video. Thanks.
I used to go to places in that scrub, that were magically beautiful, now there is a 4 lane highway and resorts all through there.the white sand and scrub is gone forever
So many beautiful natural areas there have been erased
I guess evolution failed again!
Any ideas on why mine grew like palm trees. There about 8ft high. Have always saw them growing along the ground like you show and also have a couple that do grow along the ground
Me too. Do tell
Are they in the shade? They will grow vertically if searching for sunlight. And will grow much faster, too.
Gosh! This is cool! I’m monitoring seeds I sprouted and they are certainly slow growing! Now I know it’s normal. Thanks for the info!
Great video!
Watch out for the rattlers they like saws too
Palmettos limit their growth!

Love this video and have watched it many times. I am so lucky to have a protected area nearby where I can see these guys whenever I want.
Loved the story. Long live the Queen of Red Hill
Dr. Brenner is an outstanding scientist conducting really important, useful, and interesting research in the late Pleistocene and Holocene history of not only lakes in Florida, but in other lakes worldwide. His insights as to how humans first arrived in these ares and influenced the local ecology is cutting edge and has important implications for future human habitation.
You got to showcase the "burrowing beetles"!... Strong little fella's!!!
Stick bugs!!!... Female dominant species!!!
Cuban tree frogs!!!
States should set limits on how many people can move in one state!!... Should be law!!..... There's a bigger picture at hand!!!
Wow,I learn alittle something new after every inquiry on the scrub. Aren't you 🔥 hot wearing pants!!!!???😊... especially considering the topic at hand!!!
Scrub has to be my favorite habitat in florida.
ong man
This is wonderful. <3 tortoise 21.
Thank you so much for sharing ❤️ 🐢
pretty cool bro
I am a Rhodesian Ridgeback breeder in the USA, amazing to see the cowlicks, looks just like a ridge on our breed! We have personally seen a panther in the swamp in Louisiana!
Thank you very much for this beautiful and informative film! And I wish Florida residents the best of luck in these difficult times you're facing. Greetings from France
